Divine Mercy Sunday

Divine Mercy Sunday, April 7, 2013 is a very important day for our council.

Our council will be sponsoring two major events and sponsor our first major membership drive.   We need your help to make this weekend a success!

Pancake Breakfast

The pancake breakfast will run on Sunday morning after all the masses.  Cost is $5 for adults and free for all children.   We will need men to cook and serve breakfast.

Click here to register via Sign-Up Genius.

Divine Mercy Sunday Prayer Service

The Divine Mercy Sunday prayer service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.  Divine Mercy Sunday was proclaimed by Blessed Pope John Paul II++ saying, “It is important then that we accept the whole message that comes to us from the word of God on this Second Sunday of Easter, which from now on throughout the Church, will be called Divine Mercy Sunday.”

Because the Knights have a special calling to support the church and its endeavors we are called to do our best to assist in celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday.

It is very clear, that this feast is to be a refuge and shelter for all souls, but especially those who have fallen away.  This Feast of Mercy offers souls a complete pardon of all sins and punishment. As Knights we are called to do acts of charity and there could be no greater act of charity than to participate in the salvation of lost souls.

We also will need several Knights to help during the service.  You can sign up using the same link as the pancake breakfast.

Membership Drive

Our council has been very blessed this year, far exceeding our goals for membership.  But many members of the parish still don’t know we exist.  We will be manning an informational table along St. Simon Street.   Our goal to get prospective members to learn more about our council and attend an open house to learn more about our order.

We have been given permission to speak at all the masses and may still work to get a bulletin insert to detail more about who the Knights are.

Thanks in advance for your generous support.

State Runner-Up!

Ella HagenowCongratulations to St. Simon parishioner Ella Hagenow on representing St. Simon the Apostle Council all the way to the State Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship.

She made 17 of 25 free throws at the state competition good enough to be the runner-up in the 10-year-old girls division, just one shy of tying the winner who shot 18.

Our council is still proud of Ella’s competitive spirit and her determination to be back in 2014 and win.
