Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast

News Leave a Comment

A special thanks to all our Brother Knights who spent their Sunday morning cooking pancakes for our 2012 Mother’s Day breakfast in the school cafeteria.

We served over 140 parishioners and all the moms in attendance had one less meal to prepare.

5th Sunday Mass

News Leave a Comment

As many of you know the Knights have been ask and provided All the Ministers for 5th Sunday 11:00 Masses.

This being said, we need lots of help from our Brother Knights. This Sunday (29th) is a fifth Sunday as well as the K of C State Convention.  We need to provide 11 Eucharistic Ministers, four greeters and two readers!

Dennis Quigley & Dennis Gochoel will be doing a Special Training class tor Knights this Wednesday (25th) at 7:00 PM at the Church.  This will only take an hour or less and we’re asking Bob Hughbanks to be there to help with the greeters and Dennis Quigley will work with the readers. The code to get in will be #7142.

We know this is short notice, but if you can attend please try to attend even if you can’t help with this Mass. We have several more coming up later that we will be needing your help on.

This is a Special Mass! We are providing a service to OUR Church and letting everyone know that the Knights are at St. Simon! I’m asking all Brother Knights and their families to try to attend this Mass, and if you have one of the our new K of C shirts please ware it. We will be reserving the front pews in church for the Knights and their families.

We now have close to 40 members in our council — we can handle this.

Holy Thursday Adoration

Fr. Bill asked that he would like volunteers from our Council to attend Adoration following Holy Thursday mass.  The Adoration runs from the end of Mass (about 8 p.m.) until 10 p.m.  Fr. Bill is asking that all church groups send four volunteers for every 30 minutes during Adoration.   That would mean we would need a total of 16 Knights, but we’ll take what we can get.  If you are interested, please email Jason to be included on the schedule.

Upcoming 1st Degrees for Charter Membership

News Leave a Comment

The St. Simon the Apostle Knights of Columbus Council is on the go. We’ve had our first meeting, elected our officers and in the coming months will be doing our annual planning to support charitable activities. One of the next administrative things that need to be done is to get our application for Charter sent in. This will include all of the charter members of the new council.

Several guys have been asking about next available opportunities to join the K of C and there are two first degree initiations coming up before I need to get the application for Charter sent off.

  • Thursday, March 8th at 7pm, St. Joseph Council on German Church Rd.
  • Monday, March 19th, 7pm, at the Northside K of C at 71st and Keystone

The first degree takes about an hour and is a pretty simple ceremony. If you’d like to attend or if you just have questions about the Knights of Columbus please contact any of these guys:

Dennis Gochoel -Grand Knight
Patrick McNamee – Deputy Grand Knight
Jason Crundwell – Financial Secretary
Dennis Quigley – District Deputy, Trustee

Or you can catch any of us at the Friday fish fries. So grab one of us or any of the other Brother Knights of the St. Simon Council and we can fill you in. It’s going to be an exciting time for us.
