At the request of Archbishop Tobin of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and the Local Organizing Committee of the Indianapolis 2013 National Catholic Youth Conference, the Knights of Columbus have been tasked with providing a color guard and to create a corridor of reverence on the procession route for the Eucharistic Procession from St John’s to the 500 Ball Room in the Indianapolis Convention center.
Eucharistic Procession November 21, 2013 at 5:00 PM
Gather in Volunteer area starting at 4:00 PM
The Details
On Thursday, Nov 21 at 5PM…For the Opening Liturgy, we have been asked to provide a color guard and men to create a corridor of reverence for the Eucharistic procession as it passes from the altar at St. John the Evangelist to the altar in the 500 ball room to start NCYC 2013. That procession is almost 500 feet (almost 2 football fields) and will as many Sir Knights as possible. This can take up to 300 SKs.
This is NOT 4th Degree only request, ALL AVAILABLE KNIGHTS are need to help form the corridor. We will have 3 tiers of Knights for this event:
During the event, Within the NCYC will be a booth for Knights of Columbus, asking our youth to consider being a Knight when eligible. The presence of Knights will help enforce the thought that Knights are here for the youth. Please help the youth, and the Knights. .
The Commitment
Since this is a youth event, all Knights participating in this event and any other opportunity within the weekend you wish, are required to register as a volunteer for the event with the Archdiocese and to complete the ‘Safe and Sacred’ youth safety protocol, regardless of your home diocese.. Please identify yourself as a Knight (Spouses and significant others, also). Your participation will be tracked and reported so your council receives credit. There is an attached document that walks you through the process.
